Auditions for The Beggar's Musical Saturday Aug 13 at IC Public Library Meeting Room B

Combined Efforts in Partnership with the Iowa City Community Theatre (ICCT) is casting The Beggar’s Musical. 

Crowded alleyways and tenements near a shipyard are the setting for this adaptation of John Gay’s, The Beggar’s Opera, written by Janet Schlapkohl.  A large collection of diverse characters, from the ribald, licentious, wicked and corrupt, to the foolish, tricky, and charming, offer an uncompromising look at society from its underbelly.  Directed by Shay Lilienthal.

Auditions will take place Saturday August 13, 2022.  Auditioners should be prepared to do a brief side read from the script and sing a small bit of a song.  The reading will be provided at the auditions; please choose a song excerpt – any song you are comfortable singing is fine.

The Beggar’s Musical will be performed in the ICCT theater October 21, 22, 23, and October 28, 29, 30* at the ICCT Theater.

Time:  1:00 pm – 3:00 pm
